I thought it would be useful to have a safe backup of my notebooks, and to be able to search for that note I took at some point I can't quite remember. There are options out there for scanning notebooks, and some support extracting text from handwriting. But they aren't optimized for the features that journalers want - and some of those other options are expensive!

In case you're curious, my pen refill of choice is a Uni-Ball Signo 0.28 mm. My current notebook is a Yu-Sari with grid lines in size B5.
